ALBANY — The New York State Bridge Authority has outlined actions it plans to take to ensure bridge safety following a National Transportation Safety Board recommendation for multiple state bridges to undergo risk assessment evaluations for potential collapse if a large vessel hits bridge supports. A March 18 NTSB report recommended 13 bridges in the state, including the Rip Van Winkle Bridge that spans across the Hudson River from Catskill to Greenport, to undergo evaluations.
