Shares 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Capcom has dropped a cheeky video celebrating its Resident Evil 4 player milestone , and while light-hearted and fun, fans have spotted a sneaky detail within that might hint that the series’ next entry, Resident Evil 9 , is on the horizon. In celebration of hitting 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 team posted a two-minute clip on its social media pages to mark the occasion. In the video, Ada Wong reports to Albert Wesker just like she did in the game, stating that the task is complete, with the clip then cutting to Leon Kennedy during the iconic church bell scene, only this time, as the Ganado shuffle towards the bell tower, they don party hats, some even wearing goofy face noses.

RE4 Dev Team pic.twitter.com/cKaS198UVY — Capcom Dev 1 (@dev1_official) April 25, 2025 To make things even weirder, The Bullet or The Blade by Sam Drysdale – the rock song used in the end credits of the game – then plays in the background, accompanied by Dr Salvador strumming his chainsaw like a guitar, as the camera pans out to Leon pumping his fist into the air as a signpost behind him reads the words “Thank you for playing, gloria a las players”.
Here’s where things get interesting, though, as when turned on its side, the wooden boards of the signpost form the Roman numeral IX, or nine. As later games in the series, specifically its seventh and eighth entries, use Roman numerals in their logos instead of numbers, this seems like a sneaky tease that the upcoming ninth title might be coming soon. Of course, this could all be just a coincidence, although some eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that this same signpost did not have the lower plank forming the “I” in the game, which means that this was added intentionally.
Other fans also noted that this video comes just in time to coincide with previous rumours of a PlayStation showcase happening next month, so Resident Evil 9’s announcement might very well occur then. Still, these are mere speculations at this point, although Capcom has confirmed in the past that the next mainline entry in the survival horror series is in development, and that it will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who helmed 2017’s Resident Evil 7 , who said at the time that “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [ Resident Evil 7 ]..
