Car fatally hits rickshaw driver in Hadapsar

Pune: A 63-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed after a speeding car hit the three-wheeler from behind near the National Research Centre for Grapes at Shewalewadi in Hadapsar on the Pune-Solapur highway around 8.45pm on Tuesday. The Hadapsar police identified the deceased as Balasaheb Chavan from Shewalewadi.

Police arrested the car driver, Danish Shaikh (32), from Urali Devachi on the charge of causing death due to negligence. Chavan succumbed to serious injuries.



Shaikh was arrested after an FIR registered by the victim's son, Akash Chavan (26). The FIR was filed under the provisions of the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act..
