Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has announced that its Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program has received full international accreditation from the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). The accreditation officially came into effect in January 2025, positioning CCQ among a distinguished group of academic institutions that have earned this prestigious recognition. CIPS, a globally respected accrediting body and permanent signatory of the Seoul Accord, stands alongside renowned organisations such as ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) in the United States and the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

As a result, degrees accredited by CIPS enjoy widespread international recognition. This further reinforces the global reputation and academic credibility of CCQ’s Information Technology programs. In addition to the Cybersecurity degree, CIPS has also granted full accreditation to CCQ’s Associate of Information Technology program, further highlighting the College’s commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-aligned academic offerings that meet rigorous international standards, and meet the evolving needs of the job market.

The accreditation followed an official visit to the College by a CIPS delegation in November 2024, led by Dr. Gerald Caissy, director of accreditations and CIPS fellow. During the visit, the delegation met with faculty, students, alumni, and advisory board members, and toured classrooms, labs, assessment centers, and student exhibitions.

The team also conducted a rigorous review of CCQ’s curricula, teaching methodologies, and academic infrastructure. On this occasion, Dr. Khalid Al-Horr, president of the Community College of Qatar, expressed his pride in this institutional achievement, stating: “The full international accreditation of our Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Associate of Information Technology programs by CIPS is a global testament to the quality of education we deliver and to our steadfast dedication to academic excellence.

This achievement would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and teamwork of our faculty, students, and staff. They embody the values and strategic vision of the College.” He added: “We firmly believe that high-quality education is the foundation for achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.

These international accreditations reaffirm our commitment to continuously developing our programs and curricula in line with global scientific and industry advancements. We pledge to remain at the forefront of delivering world-class education that empowers our students to achieve their ambitions and play a key role in building a knowledge-based economy.” Dr.

Khawla Alzoubi, dean of the Science and Technology Division, emphasized the significance of this accomplishment: “This accreditation marks a pivotal moment in CCQ’s academic journey. It affirms the excellence of our programs and their ability to align with international standards and market demands. Above all, it is a reflection of the remarkable dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit demonstrated by our faculty, staff, and leadership.

We are committed to continuing our mission of delivering a globally competitive education that prepares our students to lead confidently in the digital future.” Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghushami, chair of the Information Technology Department, also commented that such global accreditation confirms the high quality of the College’s academic offerings and ensures that our graduates receive internationally recognized qualifications.

It opens doors to postgraduate studies and strengthens their ability to compete in global job markets. We are proud to be at the forefront of Qatar’s academic institutions preparing the next generation for success in the digital age. Copy 01/05/2025 10.
