Intellectual property (IP) is the legal rights granted to creators and inventors to protect their innovations, artistic works, designs, symbols, and brand names. Key categories include patents,trademarks, copyrights, and design rights protect these creations, enabling innovators and creators to benefit from their work.
These rights provide creators with protection and economic benefits, encouraging the dissemination of knowledge, culture, and technology. World IP Day 2025's theme, "IP and Music: Feel the beat of IP," emphasizes the connection between intellectual property and music, highlighting the importance of IP rights in supporting diverse musical ecosystems and the cultural and economic value of music. Recognizing and respecting IP contributes to a thriving environment for creativity, innovation, and the beat of music in a digital-first world.
