Charity devastated after 'lifeline' minibus that transports pensioners to medical appointments stolen

Epping Forest & Harlow Community Transport has been left devastated after one of its essential accessible minibuses was stolen overnight, severely disrupting vital services for elderly and vulnerable residents. The vehicle, a yellow Mercedes Sprinter, was stolen from Epping sometime after 8 p.m.

on Wednesday April 23. The vehicle was caught on ANPR in Romford Road at 9.30pm.



The minibus, clearly marked with the charity’s logo, was used daily to transport individuals to medical appointments, day centres, and social activities. Epping Forest & Harlow Community Transport said: "This is a lifeline for so many people, for some of our clients, this is the only way they can get out of the house and stay connected with the community. To have it taken from us is not just theft—it’s taking away someone's independence.

This theft is a huge blow to our operations. Our passengers depend on us, and losing a vehicle hampers our ability to provide the necessary services.

"This is not just a vehicle—it’s a critical part of our mission to keep our community mobile, safe, and connected. We’re asking anyone who might be able to help to come forward." A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "We are investigating after receiving a report of a theft of a minibus in Beaconfield Road, Epping, between 10am on Wednesday April 23 and 7.

50am on Thursday April 24.".
