Hope UK's training sessions have helped a Bromsgrove teenager reduce her vaping.

Hope UK, which provides drug education sessions, has been delivering training to youth workers in Bromsgrove. Maria, a support worker, attended one of these sessions and learned that a single 600-puff vape is equivalent to smoking 40 cigarettes. She shared this information with Ruby, a teenager she mentors, who was using an 1800-puff vape.

Ruby decided to limit herself to one 600-puff vape per week. Maria said: "It was totally unprompted on her part. "I see that reduction as a massive success and it wouldn’t have happened without the training.

" The training sessions are part of a county-wide programme, funded by Worcestershire County Council and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, West Mercia. They aim to reduce the risk of young people becoming involved in drugs and criminality. The programme is free for practitioners and will continue until the end of 2025.
