We always knew that chef Andy Little was a big baseball fan and a fantastic cook, and he has spearheaded Strategic Hospitality’s annual guest chef series at The Band Box for a decade. Now that Little has officially teamed up with Strategi c, he’s become an even more valuable utility player, assisting in many of the group’s restaurant operations. Even with more responsibilities, Little hasn’t forgotten his love of baseball and the sheer joy of working with other chefs to create something new at The Band Box , Strategic Hospitality's right-field oasis at First Horizon Park, home of your Nashville Sounds.
For the first of many special culinary nights this season, Little is teaming up with Matt Stanzel, a former co-worker at Josephine and current executive chef at Friends in Low Places , for a delicious dish that will only be available at The Band Box on Thursday, April 24. They’re offering a prototypical Wisconsin Beer Brat topped with spicy mustard, sauerkraut, onion, beer cheese and pretzel crumb served atop a Martin’s pretzel roll. For the remainder of the season, guest chefs will continue to drop into The Band Box on home game Thursdays.
Among those slated to appear include Bryan Lee Weaver of Redheaded Stranger , Gracie Nguyen from East Side Banh Mi , Bad Idea’s Colby Rasavong, Anthony Bell from The Iberian Pig , Sean Wen of Curry Boys and several others. Bastion chef Josh Habiger will make a special Sunday appearance on Aug. 24, because that’s when he is free to show up, and he’s Josh freakin' Habiger, so we’ll eat his food whenever we can! There is no extra charge on top of your regular admission to eat at these pop-ups at The Band Box, so all you have to do is step up to the plate and place your order.
However, when the special dishes run out, there will be no extra innings. You’d better grab your treat before the seventh-inning stretch at the latest. Korean BBQ Cheesesteak In addition to putting together the guest chef series, Little has been helping revamp the rest of The Band Box’s regular menu, including new items like a g rilled chicken club with bacon, lettuce, tomato, chimichurri, mayonnaise and Cool Ranch Dorito crumble; the Korean barbecue cheesesteak with shaved beef, chili cheese sauce, kimchi and cilantro; m ozzarella sticks with house-made pepperoni sauce; and the f unnel cake soft serve helmet with brown butter soft serve, funnel cake wedge, and caramel.
Now any night at The Band Box can be a home run!.
