In contrast, the record for the warmest daily low in April stands firm at 69° - a record unbroken by today's early surge in temperature.As noted by National Weather Service, the city anticipates a windy day with southwest breezes switching to north northwest in the afternoon and potential gusts as high as 30 mph.
The city should brace not only for the wind but for the incoming cold front which will contribute towards the descending temperatures as the day progresses.Tornadic activity remained minimal nationwide, with only two tornadoes reported since yesterday according to the Storm Prediction Center, and none in the Chicago area. However, surrounding regions have seen their share of large hail and wind damage.
