Voting is now open for the Daily Echo's Chip Shop of the Year 2025 award, and one chippie is hoping that its "passion and hard work" can set it out from the rest. Mike's Traditional Fish and Chips on Spring Lane in Bishopstoke has been named among the best in the country every year since 2019, being shortlisted for the National Fish and Chip awards six years in a row. The chip shop was also announced as one of three finalists in the national Quality Accreditation Champion award in January.
Mike Isaac, who runs the chip shop, says that the takeaway would never call itself "better than anyone else", despite the national attention. Mike said: "The awards we’ve had in the past are brilliant and this one means a lot to us as well, it’s public led and voted for by our customers.
"In terms of setting ourselves apart, I think it comes down to passion and hard work. "Most of us who work here are family which almost means a little bit more because it’s got our name on the door and we’ve got a reputation."
