Pupils from Ysgol y Waun, Chirk, have raised more than £2,200 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Year 6 team Beech decided to take on the challenge after some of their classmates received treatment at the hospital. Orlagh Samuels, one of the pupils, is also an ambassador for the hospital.

Inspired by Jamie Lang's ultra-marathons, the pupils planned routes around Chirk and Fron. They faced the challenge of needing more adults to accompany them due to budget cuts affecting the number of teaching assistants available. However, with the help of parents, the children completed their marathon goal in four days.

On the fifth day, April 9, they decided to push further, completing 30 miles. Their efforts were rewarded with a fundraising total of £2,200.38.

The school expressed immense pride in the pupils, acknowledging their dedication and hard work in raising money for the hospital..
