The 35-year-old was given two attempts to make the 160lb middleweight limit, but was still half an ounce over, and he will now have to pay a $500,000 fine. Ring Magazine confirmed the news on Friday lunchtime, while also offering a reminder that Eubank Jr must now weigh more than 170lbs at tomorrow's fight day weigh-in after agreeing to a rehydration clause for the bout.

Ring Magazine's statement read: ' Chris Eubank Jr weighed 160.2lbs on his first attempt at today’s official weigh-in for the Conor Benn fight, then weighed 160.05lbs on his second and final attempt.



'He will be fined $500,000, per the weight clause in the contract, and cannot exceed 170lbs at the same-day weigh-in tomorrow morning or he’ll face a further penalty. Eubank Jr's failure to make weight comes just days after his father urged him to pull out of Saturday's fight due to concerns over his son's health. Chris Eubank Jr has failed to make weight for his grudge match with Conor Benn Chris Eubank Sr - a former two-weight world champion himself - told Mail Sport he was concerned that his son could suffer brain damage as he insisted he was boiling himself down to fight in the 'wrong' weight category purely for monetary reasons.
