Chris Eubank Jr is all set to take on Conor Benn this Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In what is being billed as one of the greatest grudge matches of a generation, the 35-year-old will hope to follow in his father's footsteps in getting one over the Benn family. His dad, Chris Eubank Sr, initially faced Nigel Benn - Conor's father - in 1990, winning the WBO middleweight title with a ninth-round TKO.
And while the two ran it back three years later, Nigel could only hold Eubank Sr to a draw, with a third fight never materialising. With a record of 34-3, Eubank Jr heads into the bout having already accomplished world championships in the middleweight and super-middleweight divisions. Benn, meanwhile at 28, holds a flawless record of 23-0 as he enters the fray, and hopes that a statement win over Eubank Jr will put him in line for his first-ever shot at a world championship.
Despite plying his trade 13lbs lighter than Eubank Jr at welterweight, Saturday's bout takes place at 160lbs, with a 10lb hydration clause preventing either combatant adding extra weight between the weigh-ins and fight night to gain an advantage. The event will be broadcast on DAZN PPV and Sky Sports Box Office for fight fans worldwide to watch along from home at a cost of £19.95.
But those who don't have TV access need not worry, as there's a way that they can listen along without paying a penny. Those who wish to listen to blow-by-blow coverage of the fight can do so via talkSPORT, with Adam Catterall, Gareth A Davies, Spencer Oliver, and John Rawling providing commentary. Listeners can tune in via talkSPORT's website, through the talkSPORT app, or via DAB digital radio.
While the event kicks off at 5pm on Saturday afternoon, the main event isn't slated to take place until around 10pm, dependent on the duration of the undercard. In the co-main event, Anthony Yarde faces Lyndon Arthur at light-heavyweight - two men who have a wealth of history with one another between the ropes. Arthur secured a split-decision win over Yarde back in December 2020, before Yarde leveled the playing field with a fourth-round KO of his opponent almost exactly a year to the day later.
Meanwhile, Liam Smith - whose last two fights saw him clinch a win and suffer defeat to Eubank Jr, is back in action against 19-0 prodigy Aaron McKenna at middleweight. Here's the full fight card: Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn at middleweight Anthony Yarde vs Lyndon Arthur at light-heavyweight Liam Smith vs Aaron McKenna at middleweight Vidal Riley vs Cheavon Clarke at cruiserweight Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton at cruiserweight.
