The historic hotel, The Kings Arms in Christchurch, has reopened its doors after it closed for a refurb. The 'major refurbishment' sees the introduction of a brand new cocktail bar, two new event spaces and the refresh of 20 bedrooms within the hotel. The Kings Arms is now owned and operated by 777 hotels and the transformation 'marks as exciting chapter for the historic property'.
The 'much-loved' historic hotel was formally part of the Harbour Hotels group before its transition to 777 Hotels. Mark Bowley, owner of 777 Hotels said: "We’re thrilled to be reopening The Kings Arms, a hotel with so much local history and character. "We’ve worked hard to respect the building’s heritage while creating stylish, welcoming spaces for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
" Chamane Epps, general manager, added: "The positive response to the refurbishment and the support from both returning and new guests has been overwhelming. "The team and I are thrilled with the results and look forward to putting The Kings back on the map." Labelled as a 'standout addition' is the new champagne and cocktail bar, which is called 'The Bar @ No.
18'. A spokesperson for 777 Hotels said: "A standout addition is The Bar @ No.18 – a stylish Champagne and Cocktail Bar that brings a new social space to Christchurch’s bar scene.
"Open daily, the bar serves a curated menu of fine wines, Champagne and expertly crafted cocktails in a contemporary setting that still honours the building’s heritage. Kerry Bowley added: “We’re especially proud of The Bar @ No.18, it’s a beautiful space for guests and locals to relax, celebrate, or simply enjoy a drink in great company.
" The Kings Arms is situated in 'the heart of Christchurch', opposite the castle ruins bowling green. The creation of two new event venues is said to cater for weddings, corporate events and other celebrations. The hotel will now be open to members of the public for lunch from Mondays to Saturdays and open all day on Sundays.
It is said that evening dining is reserved for public functions, but the new champagne bar will be open daily to guests and the public. Mark Bowley added: "This is just the beginning for us. "We’re passionate about restoring and reimagining beautiful places like The Kings Arms, and we can’t wait to see how Christchurch locals and visitors from further afield respond to what we’ve created here.
