CJ OliveNetworks' flagship social contribution program, the "CJ SW Creative Camp," was awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation for its efforts in the field of information and communications during the "2025 Science and Information Communications Day" ceremony. This award is presented by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Commission to individuals and organizations recognized for their contributions to the advancement of the information, broadcasting, and telecommunications sectors. CJ OliveNetworks was commended for its significant contributions in areas such as identifying digital blind spots and bridging educational gaps, fostering IT talent through high-quality AI and software education, and enhancing digital accessibility based on new technologies.
The “CJ SW Creative Camp” is a software education program for youth that has been operated by CJ OliveNetworks since 2015. It aims to enhance logical thinking and creativity in young individuals based on IT expertise. The program has particularly gained attention for expanding educational opportunities for digitally marginalized groups and for being implemented nationwide.
Over the past decade, employees and university instructors from CJ OliveNetworks have voluntarily provided AI and software education to more than 14,700 children and adolescents. The program has been expanded to target low-digital-access youth in over ten regions, including Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, and Jeju. CJ OliveNetworks focuses on more than just basic coding education by designing projects that allow youth to tackle ESG issues through coding, thereby enhancing their problem-solving skills.
Additionally, a hands-on curriculum reflecting the latest IT technologies, such as generative AI, big data, and machine learning, has been implemented to provide practical education that meets the changing industrial landscape. In particular, last year, the company launched a new offline program called "SW School Attack," where employees visit schools and institutions to conduct training. To date, around 300 multicultural and low-income youth have received tailored IT education through this initiative.
The program operates for 15 weeks in alignment with the Ministry of Education's Free Semester System and contributes to the sustainable dissemination of social value through hackathons and idea competitions. "For over a decade, CJ OliveNetworks has consistently operated an IT education social contribution program with sincerity and sustainability," said Yoo In-sang, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks. "We will continue to actively support more youth in becoming the future talent in AI and software through a variety of programs linked to the latest IT technologies.
