Southern Californians are getting a break from the typical sunny forecast. The National Weather Service in San Diego has reported that cooler, cloudier, and windier conditions are expected through Friday. According to NWS San Diego , today's high temperatures will range from the low 60s along the coast to the low 80s in the lower deserts, with similar temperatures expected on Friday.
Moving into the weekend, the NWS details a wind advisory with gusts reaching 45 to 55 mph, and rogue gusts potentially hitting 70 mph in northern Coachella Valley. These winds are swirling through the mountains and deserts, continuing into the night. Occasional light showers are also in the mix, lasting into Friday evening, primarily targeting the coastal slopes of the mountains and spreading throughout San Diego County, from the coast to the mountains.
The forecast, as obtained by NWS San Diego , highlights expected rainfall amounts ranging from less than one-tenth of an inch near the coast to one-quarter of an inch in the mountains, with local areas receiving perhaps half an inch. Ahead, the forecast gets a bit brighter. The weekend into Monday is shaping to be dry with warmth creeping back, promising high temperatures as much as 10 to 15 degrees warmer on Saturday, especially for the inland valleys and the coastal slopes of the mountains.
The mercury is set to reach the mid 60s near the coast, with the Inland Empire looking at 70s and the lower deserts at a toasty 80s. But the deserts and mountains will have to wait until Monday to feel this warmth, as gradual cooling is expected to follow, starting on the coast and valleys. Longer term, we're looking at sustained dry weather accompanied by the perennial Southern California coastal low clouds and fog in the mornings and nights.
