Rahim Yar Khan - In a move to promote transparent governance and strengthen public service delivery, Chairperson of the Chief Minister Punjab’s Surveillance and Monitoring Directorate, Brigadier (R) Babar Alauddin (Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Military), held an open court on Thursday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sabzazar, where he directly listened to citizens’ complaints and issued on-the-spot directives for their resolution. Deputy Commissioner Khurram Parvez and senior officials from all district departments were in attendance. A large number of residents presented their concerns, ranging from sanitation and law enforcement to revenue and administrative inefficiencies.

Brig (R) Babar Alauddin emphasized that the purpose of open courts is to bring the government closer to the people and resolve issues efficiently and fairly. “This initiative reflects the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to deliver justice and administrative relief at the doorstep of every citizen,” he remarked. “I am touring every district of the province to engage directly with the public and assess governance performance firsthand.

Orders were issued to Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, Assistant Commissioners, and SDPOs to resolve these matters proactively at the grassroots level. Addressing the press following the open court, Brig (R) Alauddin reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to solving long-standing public issues through institutional reforms.

“The government is undertaking extensive development across all sectors,” he said, pointing to the ongoing upgradation of government hospitals across the province, including the long-stalled Phase II of Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan. He criticized the previous administration for halting key development projects, which resulted in significant cost escalations. “The current government is determined to complete all pending projects without political discrimination, regardless of party standing in any given district,” he added, citing Khanpur Cadet College as another priority project.

Brig (R) Alauddin also announced a province-wide mega sewerage project covering 189 cities, in addition to the construction of over 700 new roads.
