COLCHESTER’S mayor invited a community group for a visit around a historic building in the city centre. Mayor and Stanway ward Councillor Lesley Scott-Boutell welcomed the Colchester Deaf Club to the Town Hall on April 16 for a tour around the building. The group is a social club for "deaf and hard of hearing people" who meet up once a month for group activities and outings.

Mrs Scott-Boutell invited the group to acknowledge the forthcoming deaf Awareness Week, a national campaign that is taking place between May 5 to May 11. Town sarjeant Paul Lind was also in attendance. She said: “With Deaf Awareness week fast approaching, I asked Colchester Deaf Club if they would like to pay a visit to the Town Hall.
