After a cold front moved in Monday night, Tuesday will be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 58 and a chance for afternoon thunderstorms. A big chill of air from last night's cold front may bring frost to some areas, according to Gazette news partner KOAA, and the National Weather Service. Cold temperatures this morning will bring areas of frost to parts of Southern Colorado.
Grab a jacket as you leave for the day! "Areas of frost will be possible during the morning hours, and any sensitive crops or vegetation planted this past weekend should be covered until warming occurs," KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose said. "That warming will be stunted compared to yesterday, with highs as much as 5-10 degrees cooler from Monday afternoon." Snow showers in the high country will potentially move to the plains this evening with spot showers in areas of Southern Colorado.
"Temperatures will recover nicely on Wednesday, with a return to upper 60s in Colorado Springs and a small chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon," said Rose. "Our next cold front will arrive Wednesday night, and it will cool highs back down to the 50s on Thursday." Thursday will also be pretty soggy with a chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day.
"Drier air on the Plains Friday will lead to less numerous showers for the Springs, with isolated showers still possible both Friday and Saturday in the mountains and across Teller County," Rose said. "Highs will be near average in Colorado Springs on Friday before warming back into the 70s this weekend." Here's the four-day forecast from the National Weather Service : Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 3pm, then a chance of showers after 3pm.
Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming north northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
