My Cellar brunch, Trainwreck lunch specials, and a couple of Mother’s Day offerings.

Sheryl and Eric Medeiros, husband and wife owners of My Cellar Wine Bar, 9258 Forest Bluffs View, are well-known for their carefully curated wine selections from small vineyards and family-owned wineries around the world. The wine bar is also popular for its vino flights, which include three 2-ounce pours of wine followed by a 6-ounce pour of your favorite of the batch. But the wine bar also offers a small menu of beautifully presented and delicious small and larger bites.

At a recent tasting event, we got a chance to sample dishes from that menu and also some dishes being offered on a new brunch menu. That new menu and others are courtesy of Sheryl, who has taken over menu development and its execution for the wine bar. At the tasting we were impressed with her creative ideas for brunch charcuterie boards.

A huge round board was packed with an assortment of savory and sweet bites. There were several wedges of Belgian waffles with syrup on the side, toasted mini bagels with an assortment of smears, curried chicken salad and fresh fruit. Sheryl’s unique approach to charcuterie service is interesting too.

She scales the boards to the number of diners being served and priced according to size. For instance, for one diner the cost would be $18, two diners sharing would be $28 and for a table of three or more the cost would be $45. Based on the brunch board we sampled the servings are generous.

Other new brunch dishes include a loaded hummus plate and two new burrata salads. From the regular menu we were offered paninis, flatbreads and several savory bites like beef Wellington bites that were especially tasty. The Dirty Martini Dip had everyone talking.

“We first served the dip as a flatbread and it wasn’t taking off,” Sheryl said. “I decided to just toss all the topping ingredients into a bowl and mix them up. And I gave it a new name, Dirty Martini.

Now it’s our number one seller.” Though it’s called Dirty Martini, there’s no alcohol involved. Rather it’s a delicious mixture of whipped feta, loads of diced olives, shallots and pepper.

The olives are reminiscent of the flavor of a true dirty martini, thus the name. My Cellar Wine Bar’s new brunch menus will be offered through the summer. And on May 17, it will have a fling to officially celebrate the wine bar’s one-year anniversary, with brunch service followed by a pop-up taco bar plus live music in the evening.
