Friday morning.Comox Fire Rescue says crews responded quickly to knock it down.“Fire and smoke was showing from the rear of the structure through the roof.
We were able to get here fairly quickly and get some water on it and knock it down,” said Rick Shelton, assistant chief for Comox Fire Rescue. Most of the damage was contained to the roof and the attic space, according to Shelton. Comox Fire Rescue responded to a fire started in the bathroom on Friday, April 26, 2025.
(CHEK News). The fire is prompting a reminder for people to check their bathroom fans.“It appears that the fire started in the bathroom fan, probably an overheated fan and quickly moved up into the attic space,” says Shelton.
He says overheated fans are a common problem and something people don’t often think about.“They should pull those down and give them a good cleaning out.”Shelton says the only occupant in the home was able to make it out safely but paramedics were on scene as a precaution.
