A concert is set to celebrate an orchestra's 40-year legacy. Ramsbottom Concert Orchestra and Andantino Singers will present "Favourite Melodies for a May Evening" at All Saints Church in Brandlesholme. The orchestra was formed by the current musical director, Barry Sugden.

The evening will feature a mix of classical and popular tunes, including works by Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Eric Coates, and music from the long-running BBC series, The Archers. Choral highlights will include a selection of songs by George Shearing, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Jerome Kern. The event at 7.

30pm on Thursday, May 22 will be a celebration of the orchestra's four-decade journey, during which it has made significant contributions to the community. As a registered charity, the orchestra has supported Bury school orchestras and the Ramsbottom Music Festival with generous donations. Refreshments will be available during the interval, and a raffle will be held with various prizes.

Tickets, priced at £10, can be purchased by calling 0161 761 2985 or by emailing [email protected]..
