Besides discussion over crucial issues, Omar Abdullah and visiting Congress leaders decided that top leaders of both the parties will meet soon for addressing contemporary issues and further strengthening the coalition, added the sources.“The meeting will be scheduled depending upon availability of the top leaders, particularly Digvijay Singh, who was recently appointed as AICC Observer for the J&K Union Territory to oversee the party operations and managing discussions on Congress-NC coalition in J&K,” said the sources.This was the first meeting of Naseer Hussain with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after taking over as Incharge Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the sources, the meeting lasted for around half an hour during which Omar and Congress leaders discussed the challenges being faced by the NC-led coalition Government in implementing the promises made to public in election manifestoes of both the parties.Even as it was a courtesy meeting, discussion revolved around several key issues being faced in the Union Territory and the efforts for further strengthening the coalition between NC and Congress, sources said.Recently held Budget session of J&K Assembly and the issues faced in the House, ongoing countrywide protests and resentment against Waqf Amendment Act, alleged misuse of Central agencies, etc also came up in the discussion, sources added.
