New Delhi: Taking a step towards rebuilding the organisational structure in the city, Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Saturday appointed observers at parliamentary constituency and district levels. Yadav also appointed observers for the 12 MCD wards, which will go into bypolls this year, apart from new district presidents and a five-member coordination committee for revamping the organisation at the grassroots level. Yadav said the observers would take feedback from office bearers at the block level and submit a report within one month on how to strengthen the party at the ground level.

They will also ensure that regular meetings of party workers are held at the state, district and block levels. Yadav said the appointment of observers was part of Congress' flagship initiative, Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (organisation creation campaign). Delhi Congress' dismal run in electoral politics continued with the party failing to win a single seat in the assembly polls in the city in Feb this year.

Its vote share, however, increased marginally from 4.3% in 2020 to 6.3%.

Some of its candidates performed well and garnered good percentage of votes in their respective constituencies. The party did not win a single seat in 2015 and 2020 assembly polls either. In the Lok Sabha elections, too, Congress in Delhi hasn't won a single seat since the 2014 polls.
