The Country Chicks Spring Market is back for its 18th year, as 125 vendors will offer vintage, upcycled and handcrafted items Mother’s Day weekend at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds. The market opens at 10 a.m Friday, May 9, and runs until 5 p.
m. Visitors can stop by on Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Shoppers can find a trucker hat bar where they can customize their own hats, jewelry, mini photo sessions, furniture, food vendors, handmade candles and bath goods, home decor and more.
Entry at the gate costs $6, but shoppers can get $1 off with a donation of a non-expired food item, which Country Chicks donates to local food banks. Visitors can get in free from 3 to 5 p.m.
on Friday and from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The “chick crew” can help shoppers load items into trucks if necessary. Country Chicks co-owner Melanie Smythe, who runs the market with her daughter, Sheena Turner, said the market has blossomed since they started it at their farm in Littlerock before moving it to the fairgrounds. The mom-daughter duo also put on markets in the fall and winter.
“The community has always been very supportive. It’s a great weekend to come visit Centralia and Chehalis and shop us all,” Smythe said. “It’s a great way to bring mom out and let her choose her own gift and spend some time and make a memory.
” Parking is at the red gate and the blue gate at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 1909 S. Gold St., Centralia.
