Pune: A couple returning home in their SUV after dinner at a friend's place were kicked, punched and hit with sticks near Pashan Circle for honking at two men riding a scooter, which suddenly took a turn and came in front of their vehicle. The incident occurred at 11.15 pm on Friday, police said.
The husband fractured his nose in the incident. The medical report on the injuries suffered by his wife is still awaited. The Chatushrungi police on Tuesday arrested casual worker Anil Vasant Londhe (49), his son Raj (19) and his friend Vinayak Kamlakar Ghag (55), all residents of Pashan, for beating up the business consultant couple and smashing the windshields of their SUV with stones.
VP Amaldev PV Raman (33) of Someshwarwadi in Pashan lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday night. Senior Inspector V N Patil of Chatushrungi police said, "The couple, Raman and Ketaki, were returning home after dinner at a friend's place near Swargate when the incident took place. Londhe and his friend, Ghag, who were riding a scooter, took a left turn in front of the SUV driven by Raman.
His wife, Ketaki, was sitting in the front passenger seat. Raman had honked after the scooter riders suddenly appeared in front of the SUV." "This enraged the scooter riders.
They stopped the scooter in the middle of the road and asked Raman why he had honked. This led to a verbal exchange between them. Londhe's son, who was nearby, came to the spot, and they all started abusing Raman and his wife," he said.

I started the car but some of them held the steering and damaged some electronics parts. I sped from the spot and some of them tried to chase us. We then went to our friend's place and parked the SUV there.
Following this, we went to the police station and reported the matter. Later, we went to the hospital for treatment.".
