There's a lot of clamoring for the Dallas Cowboys to add another wide receiver. In Dallas, though, Cowboys leadership feels it might have a supplement to CeeDee Lamb already in house. That's KeVontae Turpin, the superstar return man.
The 28-year old is coming off his by-far season-best year as a pass catcher, reeling in 31 passes for 420 yards and 2:20 remaining in the half. New Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said he wants to use Turpin even more. "I think he's a dynamic weapon.
I think he's a dynamic player. I can't say enough about his growth in the understanding of the football scheme over the last couple years," Schottenheimer said according to the official team website . "It's KaVontae doing the work to be able to move him around, and there's really nothing he can't do.
We're moving him in positions that two years ago, But incredible talent. It's awesome to see him maturing as a football player." MORE: Cowboys sign 4 pass catchers while I'm up there .
The Cowboys already signed Turpin to an extension that suggests he may be a part of the passing game, at three years and a total of $18 million this offseason. Any chance to get the ball in Turpin's hands is a good one. It feels like the Cowboys are hinting at a new role for him in 2025.
Hopefully Prescott is ready to cook with Turpin. It wouldn't be as exciting a move as bringing somebody in from the outside, but it's likely advisable to do it this way with the fact that there's some built-in chemistry and familiarity already. Don't be surprised to watch Turpin have a career year with some more pass catching than he's ever done before.
