David Ornstein claims Alejandro Garnacho could leave Manchester United if suitable proposals are made.

Alejandro Garnacho leaving Manchester United this summer is "highly possible" despite the attacker winning over Ruben Amorim, according to The Athletic 's David Ornstein. The 20-year-old's future was uncertain during the January transfer window as INEOS sought to balance the club's books. He was on Napoli's radar, and the Serie A giants were close to agreeing a deal with United, but opted not to meet the Argentine's wage demands.

Garnacho has since reclaimed his place in Amorim's side after being dropped for the Manchester Derby win over Manchester City in December. He could still be one to depart come the end of the season as part of a major overhaul of the squad. Ornstein: Garnacho and Man Utd Could Be Open To Exit Garnacho will have three years left to run on his purported £50,000-per-week contract in June, and the club are thought to be asking for around £50 million for their academy graduate.

Chelsea were reportedly also interested in January, and he remains on their shortlist alongside several other wingers, as per Sky Sports . Ornstein gave an update on Garnacho's situation and said that a potential exit could occur: "Yes, we understand this to be highly possible - if proposals are deemed suitable by Man Utd and Garnacho himself. As we know, exits for the likes of (Marcus) Rashford, (Jadon) Sancho, Antony, (Tyrell) Malacia, Casemiro and (Rasmus) Hojlund are also plausible, while the salaries of (Christian) Eriksen and (Victor) Lindelof will leave the wage bill.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha looks likely to become the club's first summer signing, and Ipswich Town's Liam Delap is also on their radar, as per Fabrizio Romano's latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter. GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Alejandro Garnacho (20 goals & 14 assists) is only behind Lamine Yamal for goal contributions from under-21 players in Europe's top five leagues since the start of last season. Garnacho has been with United since 2020, when he arrived from Atletico Madrid's youth system before breaking into the senior setup at Old Trafford in 2022.

He scored the opener in a 2-1 FA Cup final win over City last season and was viewed as the club's future, hailed 'incredible' by teammate Rasmus Hojlund. But there are doubts over him fitting into Amorim's system, and he could be one of the big-money sales. All statistics courtesy of SofaScore - correct as of 26/04/2025.
