Surat: In a major crackdown, the Surat Detection of Crime Branch ( DCB ) on Saturday busted a racket involved in supplying pre-filled syringes containing mephedrone (MD) drugs. Three accused were arrested from a residence in Bhathena, while three others, including a woman, have been declared wanted. A case has been registered at Salabatpura police station, and further investigation is underway.

Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch raided a house in Panchsheel Nagar and arrested Jamil Khan (43), Taufiq Patel (25), and Rehan Khan (20). Officers seized MD worth RS 1.25 lakh, 35 insulin syringes, and 11 bottles of sterile water used for preparing the injectable drug.

Upon searching the three-storey residence, house number 517, police recovered both used and unused insulin syringes, along with 10 ml bottles of sterile injectable water. During interrogation, the accused admitted to preparing readymade syringes by mixing MD powder with sterile water and supplying them directly to customers. The operation also led to the recovery of Rs 60,000 in cash, mostly in small denominations—hidden in a cupboard drawer, believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.

Police said the arrested accused sourced the drugs from three people—Danish, Saddam Khajur, and a woman named Twisha. All three have been booked under relevant charges and are currently absconding.
