Eiran Cashin has been told he WILL get his Albion opportunity – when the time is right. The mid-season signing from Derby County was not used in the 2-2 draw with Leicester City, even though Albion only had one other senior specialist centre-back available in Lewis Dunk. Jan Paul van Hecke returns to the back-line at Brentford tomorrow after a one-match suspension.

Cashin will again be on the bench but the evidence of the Leicester game is that Carlos Baleba is the next option in the middle of defence. Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler has spoken to Cashin about where he stands. He has so far had one rather hit-and-miss outing as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa.

FABIAN HURZELER'S PRESS CONFERENCE Hurzeler said today: “I just had a conversation with him this week, we are in exchange. “I always say to players what I demand from them, what they need to do to step into the team, to help the team. “Cash is a person and a player who really integrates himself into the group, who works quite hard on the pitch, off the pitch, who tries to be the best version of himself.

“The step from the Championship to the Premier League is big but he improves every day and therefore I'm sure that he will get an opportunity when the time is right.” Kaoru Mitoma has been passed fit to return after missing the Leicester game while Joel Veltman, Tariq Lamptey and Igor return to training next week..
