Delivery person replaces original products with duplicates; dupes firm of Rs3.75L

1 2 3 Pune: The Hinjewadi police on Saturday booked a delivery person of an e-commerce company on the charge of duping the firm of Rs 3.75 lakh by replacing original products with duplicates. The investigations revealed that the delivery person had replaced original products with duplicates in 11 parcels in Nov last year.

Later, the delivery person returned these parcels to the company and claimed that they were returned by the customers. The fraud came to light during an internal inquiry. The company gave the person a chance to return the money.



When he failed to return the money, the firm official filed a complaint. The delivery person was booked under section 316 (4) (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An officer from the Hinjewadi police said the company's godown is located at Marunji near Hinjewadi.

The suspect's job was to collect the parcels from the godown and deliver them to the customers. "The delivery person was given 11 parcels between Nov 6 and 14 last year. The collective value of the products was Rs 3.

75 lakh. He returned these parcels to the godown and claimed that the customers had returned them," the officer said. He added that when the senior officials from the company checked the returned parcels, they found duplicate products in the parcels, which were exchanged with the original ones.

"During the inquiry, it was revealed that the delivery person exchanged the original products. He accepted it and promised to return the money," he said. The officer stated that he failed to return the money.
