Dividend Shares: This Tata Group stock just announced its highest payout in 23 years

Tata Communications had paid ₹16.7 per share as final dividend to its shareholders in 2024, following payouts of ₹21 per share, ₹20 per share and ₹14 per share respectively in 2023, 2022 and 2021.

The board of Tata Communications Ltd., a Tata Group enterprise, approved a final dividend payout of ₹25 per share for its shareholders on Tuesday, April 22. The announcement was made alongside the company's quarterly results after market closing hours.

No record date has been fixed for the said dividend payout, but the company said that this will be approved by the shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting (AGM). Based on available data on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), this is the highest dividend payout approved by the company's board in over two decades. Tata Communications had paid an interim dividend of ₹75 per share back in January 2002 to its shareholders, following a ₹50 per share payout in September 2001.



The company had paid ₹16.7 per share as final dividend to its shareholders in 2024, following payouts of ₹21 per share, ₹20 per share and ₹14 per share respectively in 2023, 2022 and 2021. Post the mega payout in 2002, Tata Communications did not pay dividends to shareholders over the next five years, before resuming this exercise in 2007.

The Tata Group company has paid annual dividends every year to shareholders since 2011. For the March quarter, Tata Communications reported a 6.1% year-on-year growth in its revenue to ₹5,990.
