Donald Trump says he stopped Putin from making chilling move in Ukraine

Trump gave a tense interview with ABC from the Oval Office on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump claimed Russia would have captured all of Ukraine if he did not win the 2024 election. Trump argued in an exclusive interview with ABC News' Terry Moran on Tuesday evening in honor of his 100th day of his second term, which aired after he gave a rousing speech in Michigan. During the interview, President Trump claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to invade Ukraine after watching the United States withdraw from Afghanistan.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT "[Putin] would like to stop the war. I think that if it weren't for me, I think he'd want to take over the whole country, personally," Trump said on ABC News. "I always felt that when I left there wasn't even a chance that this would happen," he continued.



"When Biden got involved, I won't say whether or not he handled it properly but obviously it wasn't good because the war started. I believe that Putin, once he went in, wanted to get all of Ukraine ." Trump went on to accost the Biden administration for its handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan after a 20-year-long military occupation, which resulted in the Taliban taking over the country.

Now, the country is under strict Islamic fundementalist law. At least 13 U.S.
