US President Donald Trump signed an executive order today regarding "rules of the road" for truck drivers in America. On his 100th day as the 47th President of the United States, Trump signed an executive order focusing on requirements for America's truck drivers labeled "Enforcing commonsense rules of the road for America's truck drivers." His newest demands in the executive order are what he considers "common sense" to keep "truckers" safe, reliable and efficient.

"They should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station officers," Trump continued. "Drivers need to provide feedback to their employers and customers and receive related directions in English.
This is common sense," he added. The order then stated that it is federal law to be able to "read and speak the English language sufficiently," but this hasn't been enforced in recent years leaving the country to become less safe. "Yet this requirement has not been enforced in years, and America’s roadways have become less safe," Trump wrote.
He continued to say that with this new order every truck driver will be “properly qualified” and “proficient” in English. It comes after press secretary Karoline Leavitt said "there's a lot of communication problems between truckers on the road with federal officials and local officials." " He added that by doing so, the order will create a "safe, secure, and efficient motor carrier industry." Unlike other of his executive orders, Trump signed this executive order without the presence of cameras or the press..
