Duane Hultgren letter: Something stinks on the Kandiyohi County Board

The letter writer criticizes some Kandiyohi County Board commissioners for rejecting a livestock operation zoning application.

It is not the livestock or even the sewage treatment plant. It is the actions of the Kandiyohi County Board 's commissioners that have again denied a permit for a livestock operation, despite the zoning and planning commission's unanimous approval. These stinkers, led by Commissioner Roger Imdieke, refused a permit for our farm operation a few years ago under the same scenario — following full approval from zoning and planning commission.

Imdieke was particularly concerned about a building plot in Stearns County. That person must be very important to Imdieke, as Stearns County zoning officials didn't care. Now, seven years later, no enclosed non-odor farrowing building with 10 full-time employees, and no building in Stearns County either.

My commissioner Rollie Nissan, at the time, blindly opposed our permit and my commissioner now, Commissioner Duane Anderson, helped stink it up again. St. Johns Township does our own zoning so these Kandiyohi County commissioners cannot stink up our permitting.

Air fresheners are needed on the Kandiyohi County Board..
