GaadiWaadi -Maruti Suzuki to manufacture the e Vitara for more than 100 global markets in India at the Hansalpur (Gujarat) plantSuzuki has announced the preliminary details of the e Vitara launch in the first European markets. In some countries, like the UK and the Netherlands, for instance, the company will sell its first global EV with a 10-year warranty. Typically, Suzuki gives a 3-year/100,000 km or 6-year/150,000 km warranty on its cars in European markets.

For the e Vitara, it is making an exception, extending the warranty period to ten years, which should cover the entire ownership period for the first owners in most cases. The 10-year warranty “underlines how strongly Suzuki believes in the reliability and durability of this car’s design,” the company said. It has yet to disclose the maximum mileage, though, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be 200,000 km.

Suzuki’s new level of confidence can be attributed to the BYD-sourced ‘Blade’ batteries consisting of LFP cells, renowned for their safe and long-lasting nature. Maruti Suzuki has yet to reveal the warranty details for the e Vitara, but we think here, too, the coverage period would be higher than usual, and maybe even the covered mileage. Mahindra uses BYD’s Blade batteries comprising LFP cells in the BE 6 and XEV 9e and gives a lifetime warranty on those batteries in case of private registrations and for the first owner.
