Yet, Pakistan’s policies continue to undermine the environment in the name of development, resulting in real consequences—floods, declining agricultural output, and an increasingly unliveable climate. If we do not adopt a sustainable economic model now, the damage may be irreversible.
Some argue that Pakistan cannot afford green policies. The truth is: we cannot afford to ignore them. Shifting toward sustainable practices—such as renewable energy, eco-conscious urban planning, and responsible agriculture—will not only protect the environment but also create jobs, attract international investment, and ensure long-term economic stability.
The global economy is moving toward sustainability, and countries that lag behind risk being left out. Environmental responsibility must be woven into all aspects of policymaking—from industry to education. The time to act is now.
