March 7, 1924 - April 9, 2025 Edward James Green, 101, of Blue Grass, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society Care Facility in Davenport. Following cremation, a funeral service with military rites will be held at 5 p.m.

Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:30 until 4:45 p.m.



in the funeral home. Edward's final resting place will be Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Lorain, Ohio. Ed was born March 7, 1924, in West Mansfield, Ohio, York Township in Union County.

He graduated from high school at Bokescreek Township, West Mansfield Ohio in 1942. Ed was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot for students learning to be bombardiers from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945. After the completion of his service, he gained employment at Lorain Ship-Shore Radio.

Years later his experience took him to B.F. Goodrich, General Electric Company, Chemplex, finally retiring from Nationwide Engineering, in Clinton, Iowa.

Ed was a skilled electrician, able to work on anything from small to large scale electrical systems. Service was always important to Ed. He became an active assistant boy scout master to support his son and stepson in their achievement of the Eagle Award.

Later, he joined the Masons, York Right Masons, and the American Legion. Music brought him great joy. He made several trips to Branson, Mo.

and regularly attended the Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival in Davenport, Iowa. His favorite genres were country western, bag pipes, and big band dance music. Saturday evenings were often spent watching Lawrence Welk.

He enjoyed camping and spent time at local and regional campgrounds, in addition to national travel. He packed up his family for a three-week trip in 1979 to drive the Alaska Highway up through Canada to Alaska. He continued to camp with his daughter Susan and her husband Bob up until last year, at the age of 100.

Surviving are his children, Lorelene Green-Francis, Moline Ill., Gail (John) Sinnott, Bluffton S.C.

, Michael (Yvette Bryan) Green, Gray, Tenn., Susan (Bob Cassatt) Lerschen-Cassatt, Blue Grass, Iowa; stepchildren, Craig Boldman, Winterset, Iowa; Pam (Dean Ibsen) Boldman, Avon, Ohio; stepdaughter, Kathy Ocheltree, Davenport; grandchildren, Truman Francis, Rachael Cioccari, Kristopher Lerschen, Amanda Wiseman, and Bobby Cassatt; five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores (Bushbaum) Green in 1964, and third wife, Marilyn Ocheltree in 2012.

He was also predeceased by his stepson, Steve (Diana) Ocheltree. Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.
