The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 40 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud during raids carried out by its Kaduna Zonal Directorate in Niger State. The arrests, which took place in Bida and Minna local government areas, were based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to a cybercrime syndicate, the agency revealed on Wednesday via its official X handle. During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered a range of items including 60 Android phones, eight laptops, three vehicles, 10 motorcycles, eight power generators, four Bluetooth speakers, two stabilisers, and a Hisense air conditioner.

Also seized were fetish objects allegedly used for spiritual protection. These included three feather-adorned calabashes, cowries, locally made soap and sponge, a bottle of alcohol, a waist bead, and four women’s underwear. The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court once inquiries are completed.
