The event marks a pivotal step in advancing continental collaboration on space science and technology under the African Union’s Agenda 2063 framework.Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty underscored the agency’s role in unifying African positions on space-related matters during his inauguration speech. “The AfSA embodies the vision of ‘The Africa We Want,’ fostering cooperation in peaceful space exploration, capacity-building, and expertise exchange,” he stated.

The AfSA is tasked with coordinating Africa’s space initiatives, including enhancing access to satellite data and streamlining partnerships with global entities like the European Space Agency.China’s MinoSpace, a leader in small satellite engineering, expressed interest in collaboration. Co-founder Huan Yiheng noted, “The AfSA provides a vital platform for African nations to jointly advance space technology.
