FAIRFIELD — Thursday is the last day to submit a poem, 42 lines or fewer, for the April Showers exhibit at the Solano Town Center. Poets should view the exhibit at the gallery, 1350 Travis Blvd., Suite D-8, or online at www.
fvaa-arts.org . Then, select a piece of art to write a poem about.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.
m. Wednesday through Sunday. A visit to the gallery is the suggested option.
The art is called ekphrastic poetry where a device such as a work of art, inspires a piece of poetry or prose. The art reception and poetry reading is 4 to 6 p.m.
Saturday at the gallery. Poems need to reach Suzanne Bruce, Fairfield's poet laureate emerita, by 5 p.m.
Thursday. A word doc is preferred. No picture of the art necessary, but submissions must include the name of the art and artist’s name with your poem.
