GRIFFIN — On April 21, the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division and S.T.I.
N.G Investigators executed search warrants and served multiple arrest warrants stemming from an investigation into the sale and distribution of fentanyl and other illegal narcotics from 1332 Canal Street. The residence came into focus after several people suffered drug overdoses from fentanyl allegedly purchased from Robert “Trey” Carroll III and other individuals who were assisting him with allegedly distributing the extremely deadly drug throughout Spalding County.
The search warrants led to the discovery of fentanyl, methamphetamine, prescription medications, and firearms. “When it comes to fentanyl it seems like it’s a case of stupid is as stupid does,” said Sheriff Darrell Dix. “But with this box of chocolates, you know exactly what you’re gonna get.
They keep on selling and buying it until one way or another they “fentanyl” around and find out. “If you’re selling and we catch you, I want to be perfectly clear, we are going to stack as many charges on you as we can,” added Dix. “So, you better keep your grass cut, junk cars out of your yard, and your dogs contained too.
” The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Upson County Drug Task Force, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Police Department, and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the investigation.
