The unofficial start to summer will have to wait. Elitch Gardens has postponed its opening day to Sunday, the park announced. It was originally supposed to open Saturday for its 135th season, but a spring snow storm that blew into Denver late this week has pushed that opening date back.

Colorado's only "combination theme and water park" said it plans to have its longest season ever in 2025, with more operating days and special events. "This season is all about raising the bar and crafting unforgettable experiences that our guests will carry with them long after they leave," Rick Howarth, Elitch Gardens' new general manager, said in a news release this week. The revised opening day coincides with Easter and the end of Passover as well as the 420 events that take over several areas in the Denver metro area.
