Ernest “Buddy” T. DuPont OBITUARY Ernest “Buddy” Thomas DuPont, a longtime resident of Willington, Connecticut, passed away Sunday, April 20th at the age of 77. Buddy spent his entire professional career as a Computer Mainframe Technician for Sperry Univac and The Town of Vernon before retirement.
Buddy was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his time on the water and on the trails. Buddy was particularly fond of fishing on his beloved boat, StarChaser, and was always hoping to pull up a “doormat-sized” fluke. Bud also enjoyed yearly snowmobiling trips to Canada with good friends.
His love for the outdoors brought him west to Yellowstone, Montana to snowmobile, south to Chincoteague Island, Virginia to go blue crabbing, and countless other adventures. Berry picking (and eating!) with his brother Billy was another favorite pastime that brought Bud a lot of joy and he took great pride in his own blueberry bushes at home. Bud’s famous Thanksgiving sausage-stuffed Turkey was his family’s favorite tradition to enjoy every year.
While on the note of tasty food, Buddy loved “guy trips” to The Nordic Lodge where he could indulge in prime rib and seafood to his heart’s delight. Buddy has always been known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and especially generous to friends and family. His generosity knew no bounds, demonstrated recently when he took his great niece and nephews on a shopping spree at a local toy store for Christmas.
Bud’s love for tinkering and machinery was evident by a garage abundant with tools and a tractor always in the yard. He was also known for his love and ownership of muscle cars, including a Chevelle SS and a Pontiac Trans Am 454. Buddy is predeceased by his loving parents, Ernest J.
and Margaret B. DuPont. He is survived by his brother, William DuPont, and his wife Patricia; nephew Jeremy DuPont and his wife Stephanie, Eric DuPont and his wife Deanna; and great niece and nephews Madelyn, Timothy, Luke, and Landon DuPont.
