Excitement is building as a star of a famous BBC show is set to return to an antiques event at the weekend. Antique expert Irita Marriott from Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt will be at The Barlow in Edgworth on Sunday, April 27. She was last in town in August last year for what the chairman of the institute described as a "wonderful day".

John Marriott, unrelated to Irita, said: "She is taking time out of her schedule to come to us, and I think she has rearranged some filming so that she can come. " The Barlow charity has donations spent on the upkeep of their centre piece building, the memorial institute, which opened its doors at the beginning of the 20th century. The premises has a wedding venue, gym, offices to rent, plus plenty of other purposes. "People came from all over the north for the last event," John added.

The Barlow originally opened on October 30, 1909, a result of a private benefaction, and dedicated to the memory of James and Alice Barlow by their children, most notably Sir Thomas Barlow, who opened the doors at the ceremony with his family. People took shelter in The Barlow from the harsh breezes, which the village was historically famous for. Many of the facilities deteriorated and the building is now used as a community hub, hosting events including the Edgworth Folk Festival.
