Two expat Scots played an integral role in introducing Rangers chiefs to their prospective American owners. US-based investment banker Les Allan already knew Andrew Cavenagh and knew he wanted to get involved in football.

It was through another exiled Scot - Andy Mason - from whom Allan discovered Rangers could be a potential investment option. He's currently in Dubai where he works in property development in finance, specialising in getting big-money backers on board for major projects. Now, Mason himself has admitted he'd love to have a role to play in the upcoming revolution at Rangers.

Asked if he'd be interested in taking a role at the club, Mason told the Daily Mail : "Yeah, of course I would be. "Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy doing what I do here in Dubai. I have a good life out here and enjoy what I do.

"It’s not just a case of jumping at it because it’s Rangers. It’s a case of feeling like I could go in there and make a genuine difference on the business side of things. "When it comes to things like dealing with sponsors and unlocking new revenue streams, that’s where I feel like I could bring something to the table.

"The club have a huge opportunity to start afresh in the summer. For me, I think they should be looking outside the box. "It’s common in football to see a lot of people float around from club to club in these executive type of positions.

"I think it would be refreshing and ultimately beneficial if the club looked beyond that. Getting things right off the pitch is of equal importance as to what happens on the pitch. "When the takeover is completed, I envisage they will probably have a major shake-up at the back-of-house.

"If the chance came along to work with the club and move things forward, to answer your question, of course I would be interested." 4 Mason is expecting a massive shake-up at Rangers and has urged the club to fully embrace the 'gold dust' that will be on offer from the 49ers. He added: "It’s a hugely exciting time to be a Rangers fan right now and, like everyone else, I’m keen to see what the future looks like as and when the deal goes through.
