Fallen tree not removed even after 4 days of windstorm

Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 19: Even after four days of massive windstorm in Jammu, the authorities have failed to remove a big fallen tree on a house and in the lane, near JDA Park in Old Janipur area of Jammu North.The affected family members whose house has been partially damaged and other locality members whose lane has been blocked, have been moving from pillar to the post but the big fallen tree could not be removed till late this evening. With the impact of tree, cracks have been developed on the roof top and side protection wall on the roof and boundary wall of Ramesh Kumar’s house (No.

116-A) has been damaged.This BPL family approached the Excelsior today and said that they approached the concerned former Councilor (Ram Vihar) adjoining JDA Park. The family also approached Tehsildar Jammu Khas, Paramdeep, Addl DC Jammu, DFO Urban Forestry Jammu and JDA officials.



They said the JDA, Revenue and Forest people visited the site but they have not removed the tree which had fallen due to high velocity winds.The residents alleged that tall claims of the administration seems to be only on papers. Instead of providing any relief/ financial assistance to this BPL family, the tree could not be removed which had been grown in the JDA Park.

The Forest official (DFO Urban) Jammu claimed that he was not able to help as his office did not have big cutter to remove the tree.The helpless residents have sought intervention of Divisional Commissioner Jammu and sought action against the officials who are shifting responsibility on one another and doing nothing in this regard.The post Fallen tree not removed even after 4 days of windstorm appeared first on Daily Excelsior.
