Luck wasn’t on Florida A&M baseball’s side this weekend.On April 19, the Rattlers got swept by the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in the Easter weekend Southwestern Athletic Conference three-game series at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium.The Rattlers lost the series opener 8-3 on April 17, fell in game two 5-2 on April 18, and finally 9-2 to wrap up the rivalry matchup versus the Wildcats on April 19.
For the weekend, the Wildcats outhit the Rattlers 29-21. FAMU also had more errors than Bethune-Cookman, with six to the Wildcats’ four.With its series loss, the Rattlers (19-18, 13-5 in SWAC) have dropped to second in the SWAC standings while the Wildcats (24-16, 16-2 in SWAC) overtook the top spot.
This weekend was the Rattlers’ first series loss of the season.Next for the Rattlers is hosting a non-conference matchup versus Mercer on Wednesday, April 23, on Moore-Kittles Field.Then, FAMU will welcome the defending SWAC baseball champions, Grambling State, on campus for a three-game series from Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27.
