A 55-year-old farmer of Iggalur village in Talavadi sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant on Wednesday night. The incident occurred while Prabhusamy was guarding his sugarcane field, which was ready for harvest. A stray elephant entered the farm, located near the forest boundary.
Startled by the sudden intrusion, Prabhusamy attempted to flee, but the elephant attacked him before he could escape, causing serious injuries to both his legs. Nearby farmers rushed to his aid and used firecrackers to drive the elephant back into the forest. Prabhusamy was rescued and initially taken to the Government Upgraded Primary Health Centre in Thalavadi.
