RCMP were sent to the crash northwest of the town at 10:10 a.m. Police said in a news release Tuesday that investigators believe the car was travelling south on Highway 83 when it collided with a truck headed west on the Trans-Canada.
The driver of the car was the lone occupant. She was transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The 74-year-old driver of the pickup truck, who was also the lone occupant, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Virden RCMP, with the assistance of an RCMP traffic analyst, continue to investigate. A 26-year-old man was arrested for possessing stolen property after Brandon police responded to a call about a suspicious man Monday afternoon. An employee of a business on the 700 block of 18th Street called police at 3:15 p.
m., asking them to check on a suspicious man who was in the area. Officers found the suspect and say he had stolen property on him.
He was charged with possession of stolen property and later released with a court date of June 30. A 23-year-old woman who was wanted by Brandon police was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with two other offences early Tuesday morning. At 12:30 a.
m., police conducted a person check in the 100 block of Fifth Street. They say the woman was the subject of an arrest warrant, adding she also had illegal drugs and bear spray.
She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon, and held in a Brandon Police Service detention cell until a Tuesday appearance in court. » The Brandon Sun Advertisement.
